Choose a welcoming theme.

Office objects, food, music, travel, and everyday hobbies make useful themes. Keep the vocabulary broad enough for everyone to recognise. Avoid inside jokes that exclude newer colleagues, personal questions, or references to someone’s performance. A game should give people a comfortable way to join in.

Give everyone the same starting point.

Explain the activity in a sentence or two and show a quick example. For word searches, let people work alone or in pairs. For bingo, print different cards and read the words clearly. Offer a large printout or an online option if someone prefers it. Set a short time window so people know what to expect.

Let participation stay optional.

A quiet observer should be as welcome as an enthusiastic player. Keep any prize small and the tone friendly. If a team has different working hours, save a copy for people who could not attend. End with an invitation to share a good idea or suggest a future theme, rather than ranking colleagues by their scores.
